Important Tips for Psoriasis Skin Care

Divider

One of the most common misconceptions about psoriasis would probably be living your whole life with ugly skin. Contrary to popular belief, with just a good skincare routine you can still look good despite your condition, for example. The reality personality received a psoriasis diagnosis a few years ago, yet she still maintains a pristine appearance and continues to stay stunning. This is because a solid skincare routine is all you need to keep your skin looking good, more so if you have a condition such as psoriasis. With this, let me share with you some tips on how to make your skin look good.

  • Make every effort to avoid the sun. Wearing sunscreen every day is crucial since the sun's UV rays can cause your skin to appear worse than it actually is. Of course, this does not require you to stay out of the sun entirely. Studies have shown that vitamin D can help improve the appearance of the skin, so getting a little sun each day won't hurt. To avoid discomfort and burns, you should however keep your exposure to a minimum.
  • Be sure to always keep your skin clean. By smoothing the rough, scaly spots on the skin, daily bathing can alleviate psoriasis lesions. Limit you’re bathing, though, as spending too much time in the water might cause further itchiness and flaking. Additionally, exfoliating using Epsom salts and Dead Sea salts can assist in removing the tough spots. One weekly exfoliation is more than enough.
  • Always apply moisturizer immediately after a bath. After having a bath, using moisturizer all over your body can help lock in moisture and, as a result, reduce flaking. Before applying your moisturizer, be careful to pat, not rub, your skin dry.
  • Put on hypoallergenic cosmetics. It's crucial to use hypoallergenic makeup for women because some cosmetics can really be more harmful

than beneficial. You should also be sure to give your skin a break from all the makeup occasionally.
  • Sprits a tan. Large portions of the body, including your arms and legs, can benefit from spray tanning to help hide blemishes. Even though it's only a short-term solution, it can make your skin look more even and attractive.
  • Flares can start when you smoke. Consult your doctor to determine the most effective method of quitting. Some people's psoriasis is made worse by nicotine patches. Alcohol abuse can also cause symptoms. Even when coupled with some psoriasis medications, it can be harmful. If you do drink, limit yourself to no more than one drink for women and two for men per day.
    • Spend no more than 15 minutes every day in the bathtub.
    • Take a warm shower.
    • Use a mild soap designed for delicate skin to cleanse.
    • To dry, gently pat your skin.
    • While your skin is still damp, apply a heavy moisturizer to lock in moisture and help keep your skin from drying out.
